ARTIST STATEMENT :

The exhibition is a series of the ongoing study of chaos, in the process of painting and in everyday life.

The artist attempts to recreate the human condition of having to bring order out of the chaos of everyday existence.

With painting, du Toit finds the same condition, when forcing order witch is the struggle for every painter the experience becomes rigid and stiff, the antidote to this is a total surrender to chaos, which brings out the perfect balance between chaos and order.

Using a more toned down palette the mood of the paintings became a mixture of volatile emotions and tranquil surrender.
